MDCE / Home Tech Works Announces completion of Consumer-Oriented Option Packages through its Professional Installation Program

MDCE / Home Tech Works Announces completion of Consumer-Oriented Option Packages through its Professional Installation Program

Los Angeles, CA Thursday, May 2, 2002 10AM EDT

Home Tech Works, (a joint venture of Media Concepts--Pink Sheets: MDCE, and Top Box Inc.) announced today the company has completed research, packaging, pricing and sourcing of its consumer-oriented option sales systems. The option packages represent integrated systems for structural prewire activation modules, home theater, entertainment, security, home automation and monitoring.

“A huge component of our projected sales is contingent on option sales to the homebuyer,” said Erik Vidrio, President, MDCE and CEO for the company’s joint venture, Home Tech Works. “We are very pleased that this level of work has been completed and has passed muster with our current builders. The first level of sales in tract developments will be at the R.W. Hertel & Sons Oak Hill project in South Pasadena, where 87 homes are under construction. Those homes will have our Production Prewire package in the walls, and now we can offer those homeowners well conceived, competitively priced and integrated add-on systems.”

The Home Tech Works Professional System Installation program includes manufacturer driven and proprietary company systems. The program addresses every major area of hardware available to add on to the structural prewire in place. Extensive research on the types of systems in place in the marketplace has been conducted. The company has reviewed option package programs by competitors against what is available in the marketplace from manufacturers to create the most comprehensive program of tier-priced selections. The majority of these add-on packages can be carried by the homeowners’ mortgage.

Option package systems start by adding to the Production Prewire package being offered by the builder, which is designed and installed by Home Tech Works. Structural Prewire additions for optional video, voice & data, phone, HVAC, keypad, security and multi-media port runs can be added by the homeowner prior to walls being closed.

Systems for Household Networking modules starting at $700 per package include product by industry leaders, including Open House, OnQ and US Tec. Security concerns are addressed by option packages featuring manufacturers such as Paradox and Amseco. These systems start at $800 and move to over $1600. A key offering is home automation systems that offer security and fire protection, energy conservation and temperature control, lighting and other household operations. Home Tech Works is trained in and offering one of the industry’s most stable products, the OMNI system by HAI. OMNI offers systems governed by the size of the home and starting at $1000.

The company has strong vendor offerings in home theater and entertainment, and thus option packages in this major segment are strong. Prewire systems place audio zones and surround sound throughout the home and represent upgrade packages for the homeowner. Next, in-wall speaker systems can be added. The custom market for sound systems is addressed with a Platinum system. Home Tech Works has then created a series of very attractive surround sound speaker systems starting at the Gold level at over $5000 per system, moving to Silver and Bronze systems offering sound throughout the home at various price points. All these systems bring top named manufacturers of 5.1-surround sound technology into the home through competitive pricing. Home entertainment and theater consumer electronics products offered by the company include name brand components, all of which Erik Vidrio as head designer and audio/video expert has worked with successfully in the past.

Additional systems offered by the Home Tech Works Professional Installation program include Panasonic telephone systems, popular in large custom homes and now appropriate for tract homes over 3000 square feet. This offering is particularly suitable to fill the needs of the growing segment of the market that works from home and/or conducts a business out of their residence.

To support the Home Tech Works Professional Installation program, company staff have completed a range of product training and certification programs offered by manufacturers. Product sourcing and consumer credit card processing has been set up internally as well.

“The significance of this program to our bottom line cannot be overstated,” said Glenna Wiseman, company president. “Months of research in the field through evaluating competitive programs in a bid situation and product pricing have come together in an option program geared toward the demographics we see in the marketplace. To get an idea of the level of this impact we can look at the projections of our current project in South Pasadena. The initial contract is for 87 homes prewired with our Production prewire package at $1200 per unit. Option packages for home theater, entertainment, security, systems modules, monitoring and automation and lighting range from $700 to $15,000. So as an example, this job looks at an average per unit option sale on the conservative side of $5000, which generates close to $500K in potential revenue,” concluded Wiseman. “As we implement this same program tailored to the needs and marketing of each individual builder project, we will see greater levels of gross profit with streamlined efficiencies of scale, both on the consumer sell side and the product sourcing and pricing side.”

ASPIRE DIGITAL'S NEW RECEIVERLESS HOME THEATER SURROUND-SOUND TOWER SPEAKER SYSTEM AVAILABLE AT SPECIAL CES SHOW PRICE

Torrance, CA....Aspire Digital will make its new receiverless home theater surround-sound speaker system available at this week's International 2003 CES for a special show price of $199.98. The special pricing represents a 50% discount off the MSRP for the components when purchased separately.

The system is a perfect step for consumers who do not already have a receiver connected to their television and want high-quality audio playback with a minimum financial commitment.

The show special system combines the AD-140W tower speaker set and the AD-225PSC powered 5.1 subwoofer from Aspire Digital's new line of speakers being launched at CES. The AD-140W tower speaker set includes floor-standing front and rear tower speakers and a center speaker totaling 140 real watts (total 8 ohms 250Hz - 20kHz, 87dB). The AD-225PSC 5.1 subwoofer powers the entire speaker system and provides audio output directly from a DVD player.

Together, the AD-140W speaker set and the AD-225PSC powered 5.1 subwoofer provide audio quality that rivals systems costing much more.

The system is DTS compatible when connected to a DVD player that includes DTS decoding, a common feature to most new DVD players. Remote control and speaker cables are included.

The speakers are very attractively designed, and are available in several combinations of black and silver finishes to complement any décor.

The receiverless home theater surround-sound speaker system headlines a new line of speaker products that Aspire Digital will launch at CES. A second show special is available for people who already have a receiver connected to their television. It couples the AD-100W tower speaker set (total 8 ohms 250Hz - 20kHz, 87dB) and the AD-200P passive subwoofer, and will be available for $149.98.

“Quiet on the Home Front” – Home Theater trend expands as Consumer “Burrowing” Causes Bump

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

“Quiet on the Home Front” – Home Theater trend expands as Consumer “Burrowing” Causes Bump in Business for Home Systems Design

DATELINE: NORWELL, PEMBROKE, NANTUCKET, MA, DECEMBER 17, 2001… All is quiet on the home front as Americans opt to spend more time in the comfort of their home rather than going “out on the town”. With almost 90% of people driving to their destinations in addition to a reduced inclination to dine out or even see a show, Americans are seeking familiarity and “burrowing” in.

In short, the aftermath of September 11th has caused folks to reevaluate their values, pay more attention to loved ones and ultimately, stay home.

Business Break-Out
Home Systems Design Associates, Inc., headquartered in Norwell, MA, has seen a significant bump in business owing to this “burrowing” phenomenon—they’ve been contracted to develop, engineer and install a number of home theaters in recent weeks, showing a 27% increase over last year at this time. With Home Systems’ customized home theaters beginning around $25,000 —“burrowing” becomes validated.

Appreciating Home Theater
Home theaters take away the aspects of crowds, harsh lights or noise. Plush, ergonomic seating in theater–style arrangement accompanies the flat panel, oversized digital screen and surround sound.

And, at a one-touch command on a wireless panel, you can dim the lights, draw the drapes and lower the screen and projector from the ceiling. A well-designed room can exceed the performance of even the best public movie theaters, without the hassle of parking.

Folks with home theaters have the capability to invite the entire family to view a movie or invite clients to attend a private presentation. Additionally, home theater enables people to conduct video and teleconferencing from just a few steps away from the home office.

“Our home theaters are designed to entertain, facilitate, comfort and endure. They give a client simplicity, convenience and capability. It’s almost impossible to compare a home theater to a public movie theater because they’re just very different. A home theater gives you total control—from lighting to climate to seating, as well as, better quality of sound and video. People can even connect to the outside world by teleconferencing through their home theater,” noted Dennis MacLeod, president of Home Systems Design Associates, Inc. He continued, “Everything is literally at your fingertips.”

The Future is Here
Home Systems Design caters to clients with existing homes through their Retrofit Division. Home Systems Design’s Retrofit Division team of experienced professionals will design, engineer and install integrated state-of-the-art audio, video, lighting, communications, security and control equipment into existing construction. Site inspections are required prior to retrofit proposal.

Designing “Dream Homes”
Home Systems Design Associates, Inc. designs, engineers and installs electronic systems for homes throughout the U.S. Home Systems Design’s team of experienced professionals integrate state-of-the-art audio, video, lighting, communications and control equipment, including upscale home theaters, hi-quality multi-room audio/video systems, lighting and climate control and communications to future proof wiring solutions and security into both new and existing construction.
